North/South Tours

The North/South Tour is our most popular tour. It simply runs north or south depending on the day's current. This tour is designed so you can practice your skills on the Hudson in various sea conditions. Currents, wind, waves and boat traffic vary from day to day. These factors make this tour very fun, exciting and somewhat unpredictable. For beginner and intermediate paddlers who have not yet kayaked with us on the Hudson, we require that you attend a brief Orientation Session prior to the North/South Tour.*

*Orientation Session: This training class will ensure that you know the correct techniques to properly handle a tandem (double-seat) kayak in modest current conditions. For safety reasons, you need to bring a friend to accompany you during the Orientation Session as well as on the tour itself, so we can provide the two of you with a tandem. Upon successfully demonstrating the necessary requirements per the instructor's approval, you can then participate in the North/South tour, either immediately following your Orientation Session or at a later date. Orientation Sessions are held approximately twice weekly. For more detailed training and access to the regular Manhattan Kayak Company's schedule, Paddle Basics I is required.
